Massage for Emotional Pain - The Hidden Pain

Massage - The great all over healer for the body, mind and spirit

Massage therapy for emotional pain - Feel the freedom of emotional release for yourself!

Emotional pain is probably the worst of all pain. You can't see it, nobody else can see it, you can't point to it and say, look here it is. Yet it's there all the time, in your mind, in your body, eating away at your inside like a parasite attacking you from the inside out. Massage for emotional pain Emotional pain is often something we do to ourselves. We feel a certain way because, well, that's how I'm supposed to feel, or because I'm guilty for an action I took, so I deserve to feel this way or that way.

What is Emotional Pain?
Emotional pain is a heartache, or brain ache that results from a painful experience. Painful experiences happen to us all the time. Being let down in love, sacked from a job, having someone close pass away, not getting what we need out of life, or being victimized by someone else, are just a few examples.

Emotional pain is closely allied to depression, anxiety, stress, fear, guilt, shame, disappointment and anger. One thing is certain, when you think on the incident or experience, you relive it over and over again, deepening the emotional attachment to it and therefore the pain that stems from it. Emotional pain can eventually become cripplingly destructive to the body, mind and soul, and go on to affect your mood, your public life, your private life, your dreams, your whole being and mind, over and over again.

Massage for emotional pain But I've had this emotional pain for years, what can I do?
It's not unusual to experience emotional trauma throughout your life. The degree of trauma and residual pain will vary from person to person, but yes, we all have it, and much of it we have had since childhood. The things we remember, or choose to forget, about our childhood can be one factor in how we perceive emotional pain now, as adults. We may have sufferred neglect, bullying, abuse, loss, abandonment, or the loss of a parent/grandparent. But as adults our emotional trauma, and therefore pain, tends to come from relationship breakdown, problems with our children, divorce, unemployment, substance abuse, death, or physical violence or crime.

It wouldn't be unusual for an adult to experience their emotional pain in the form of PTSD - Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. PTSD can be very disruptive and debilitating. Symptoms may include: anxiety, dissociation from the world or the self, or time, trouble sleeping, flashbacks, hypervigilence, depression, and more. All of these symptoms here can be successfully managed by massage.

One of the biggest issues that I find in practice, is the issue of abandonment. There is more hurt caused by abandonment than by any other action on the planet. Massage gives someone the experience of connectedness, a sense of belonging, of nurturing and closeness. Suppressed emotions and traumas of abandonment are a key factor in the development of muscular tension, high blood pressure, heart disease, immune weakness and disease. Massage can kickstart the healing of abandonment issues. The internally held tensions and emotions are released in a safe and caring environment. Massage for emotional pain Gentle massage techniques are used to release these physical tensions, and facilitate the expression and release of suppressed emotion and trauma.

Whenever severe trauma is experienced, it's not unusual for someone to suffer recurring nightmares and mental images, as in the case of some of our war veterans, a rape victim, or someone involved in a large motorway accident. Massage for emotional pain But it doesn't have to be severe in human cost terms, it just has to be traumatic to the person's experience of trauma.

Anyone of us may struggle to let go of painful memories. We may find ourselves unable to stop dwelling on the hurt and the incident, sometimes reliving the event over and over again for months, or even years. Massage is good for coping with emotional pain and letting go of the traumas of the past.
