The Healing Art of Reflexology

See below why people call reflexology the ultimate foot therapy!

What is reflexology?
Reflexology, or Zone Therapy as it used to be called, is a method of treatment involving the physical act of applying thumb, finger or hand pressure to the feet and hands using specific techniques to stimulate those areas, normally without the use of oil or lotion as a slide. Reflexology Treatment It is based on what reflexologists think are a system of zones and reflex areas that reflect an image of the body on the feet and hands, and the theory is that such work effects a physical change to the body.

The art of reflexology has its basis in Ancient Egypt, India and China, but it wasn't until the early 1900's that Dr. William Fitzgerald introduced this therapy to the West as 'zone therapy'. This was later taken up and expanded upon in the 1930's by Eunice Ingham who went on to develop zone theory into what is now know as reflexology. Both theories rely on notable reflex areas, or points on the feet and hands, thought to be linked to other areas and organs of the body, within a specified zone in the rest of the body. In practice, it is often observed that congestion or tension in any part of the foot is mirrored in the corresponding part of the body, and that, massage of a particular reflex point, can have a profound effect on that, otherwise untouched, area of the body.

How can Reflexology help me, and what are the benefits?
Reflexology can be used as an effective support therapy, to help restore and maintain the body's natural equilibrium. This holistic approach encourages the body to work naturally within the immediate environment, to encourage effective immunal responses and to restore the body's own healthy balance.

Come to The Haven Healing Centre and enjoy a fabulous reflexology treatment soon.

What conditions can benefit from Reflexology? Please note this is not a guide or a promise. Reflexologists are not allowed to diagnose, claim to cure, or prescribe any medication. Run like hell from any that do! Each session of reflexology is specific to you and works on an individual basis.

My book says YES indeed it is!
But I don't have any of those conditions. What good is reflexology to me?
Giving a Reflexology Treatment
Firstly, not having any of the above conditions is wonderful; Congratulations! You may be in a position to benefit from reflexology the most. You have no 'reason' to come for treatment. You can come because you WANT to! Many people come for the ultimate in foot and body relaxation and find it beneficial to continue with regular treatments in a palliative way, in order to maintain health and well-being for the long term. Patients very often fall asleep part way through, because of the release of tension and stress and any associated anxiety. Even if they arrive sad and heavily burdened, they often wake up feeling happy and rejuvenated.

My practice is frequented by corporate, industrial and service industry personnel who are stressed out beyond belief in todays hectic work environment. They are being pushed beyond limits that other people have set, and their well-being is compromised to the point of exhaustion and breakdown. If this sounds like YOU, pick up the phone and call for an appointment. I guarantee you'll be very glad you did.

Reflexology is the treatment of reflex points on the feet. Many people use reflexology as a way of relaxing the mind and body and counteracting stress. Reflexology is suitable for all ages and may bring relief from a wide range of acute and chronic conditions. Visit The Haven Healing Centre in Cheddar for a course of Reflexology treatments.
